Reasons not to fly United...

Well, I survived my trip to IN. Actually the week spent with my mom (Mimmi) was great. She took a lot of time off to spend with Mira and me, and we had a good time. Mira just loves her Mimmi... in fact Mira has been grumpy since we've been home and wants me to hold her all the time. Someone got a little spoiled me thinks! The only down side of the trip was the plane ride up there! It was suppost to be a four hour total trip including the lay over in Chicago. Well, we had some bad stroms all over the Mid-west that day. My plane to Chicago from Knoxville was delayed by two hours so I missed my original flight to Indianapolis. They booked me on the next flight which was supposed to leave at 7:50 PM... well, they keep delaying that flight til it was supposed to leave at 9:00 PM then they CANCELLED it!!! :-O I was told that I could try for standby on the last plane leaving at 11:30 PM (if it was not cancelled) but that I would most likely not make it as that plane was booked and I was 9th in line and kept getting bumped (I was 15th last I knew). I looked at the guy and ask him what I was supposed to do until 11:55 AM the next day (which was the next flight I could get on) since I had a 9 month old baby and nothing to take care of her with. He said he couldn't get me a hotel and that I wouldn't be able to get my checked bag (which had more diapers/ clothes etc for Miriam as well as my electric pump)... looks at me and Miriam and says "you'll just have to figure it out." AHHHHHH What a jerk!!!!! I walked away swearing to never fly United again!!
Well, God was there to take care of us. Things I had meant to pack in my checked bag had ended up in the carry on like clean bottles, extra diapers, baby cereal, and even Miriam's little "sleepy" puppy. I had planned to change Mira into a sleeper in Indy for the drive up to the farm so I even had a change of clothes. At the last minute I had decided to take my Avent hand pump in case I wanted to pump a little before we got to the farm. So there I was with JUST want I needed to take care of Miriam! By the time we made it to Indy and got the checked bag, Miriam was in her last diaper and down to the last bottle of milk! But she was dry and feed. :-)
I was of course distraught at "sleeping" in the airport and I had to go into the bathroom, put Mira on her changing pad on the floor, to pump to get her food! Well, Brian made a few phone calls and our friends from the Reba Place fellowship who had visited our church earlier in the month happily offered to take us in... they came through the storm to get me and put me up for the night ... feed me.... even gave me a robe to wear! I can't say enough how wonderful that was! They are truly living the Bible! They took me back the next day for my 11:55 AM flight... which ended up being a 1:30 flight! When we finally landed in Indy we sat on the runway for another 45 minutes while they cleared a gate for us!!! It was the craziest three ring circus I have EVER seen! So my 4 hour trip turned into a 24 hour nightmare! But God is good and everything worked out!
