New normal at Westhaven
Well, Evan has been with us for three weeks now and is settling in nicely. He still wakes 2-3 times a night but usually goes right back to sleep after a bottle. Boy can this boy eat!! It's so weird to me after having a child that lives on air to have one that can eat 3 (!!) jars of baby food at a sitting.
When we got Evan we were told that he was delayed by 25% in both speech and gross motor skills. Well, he isn't delayed in gross motor that's for sure. The only thing he does not do is crawl or walk without assistance. He sits, leans completely over, rolls all ways, gets on all fours, lunges, gets to sitting position from belly, slides on his bottom, crawls backward on his tummy, pulls to stand, cruises short distances on furniture, walks holding on to fingers, and stands without support for 10 seconds. Yeah, he sure is delayed. He might be delayed a bit in speech but given he's on language number two I'm really not worried. He babbles at least 6 different sounds... dadada, gaga, etc. He has also said "hi". He loves to try to mimic his sister's talk. He waves hello/goodbye, claps on command, initiates peek-a-boo, and has no trouble letting me know his needs.

delayed my eye!
Since when are babies evaluated for speech at less than one year old? For crying out loud people are developmental maniacs these days. Our trips are 11 mos and don't say any words other than babble (and according to my books, that's normal). I'm tired of worrying about every little milestone. Let's enjoy these babies for being babies. :)
Sounds like your new baby is doing fantastic!
I totally agree!
People do worry to much about the development stuff. Your boys are SOOO cute and I don't think they sound delayed anymore either!
